Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian martial art derived from Judo. Jiu means gentle or to give way, and jitsu means art or practice. Like Judo, the art of gentleness is the discipline of using the power of your opponent against them. It is yielding to force in such a way as to gain advantage, and using timing and leverage to augment your strength.

In Jiu Jitsu, you will focus on ground fighting techniques in which timing and leverage are more important than strength. You will learn how to use:

  • balance
  • leverage
  • throws
  • chokes
  • joint locks
  • pins

To control and attacker, as well as learning how to fall correctly to avoid injury.

The first hour is for everyone ages 5 and up. The second hour is for teens and adults.
